Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does my extended health cover counselling?

That depends as well. All extended health benefits will generally cover psychological services from a registered psychologist. Some benefit packages cover registered social workers and some will cover registered clinical counsellors. Its best to check with your extended health benefit provider to make sure before booking appointments.

  • Do you bill insurance companies directly?

For the most part no. Clients are required to pay up front and submit their receipts for reimbursement.

  • What happens if I don't connect with my counsellor?

Not a problem. We understand that not all counsellors are a good fit for all clients. Just let the admin team know and they can direct you. In some cases, you may need to open a new file with your EAP provider, and in some cases we can just transfer the file.

  • How do I open a file with Oakhill?

Easy. Give us a call or complete the online form. We'll be in touch within a day or two and get you all set up.

  • Are you covered by Crime Victim Assistance as well?

Short answer...yes. If you have an open file with CVA, we need a copy of the entitlement letter so we can bill accordingly.

  • How long does it take to get an appointment?

That depends. If you have an EAP program, then nothing. If you are coming for counselling on your own, our fees for master's level counsellors are $120 per hour for individuals and $125 per hour for couples, plus any applicable taxes. Registered psychologists charge between $190 - $225 per hour. Psychological assessments vary depending on the scope of the assessment.

  • Do you offer services in languages other than English?

Yes, we can provide services in Hindu, Punjabi, Spanish, Arabic, Affrikaans, and Urdu. We also arrange for an interpreter if absolutely necessary.

  • Do you have counsellors that work with LGBTQ?

    Yes. Yes we do.

  • How long is my appointment?

Generally appointments are 50 minutes long. Some exceptions may apply to this (such as assessments).
