Karla is Xwísten from St’at’ímc Nation but has lived, worked, and played on the unceded territory of the Stó:lö People for the last 8 years. She holds a Masters Degree in Social Work specializing in Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency from the University of Toronto. Karla is registered with the British Columbia College of Social Workers, the Canadian Association of Social Workers, and the Canadian Association of Play Therapy. She is experienced in supporting children, youth, and young adults from a wholistic, strengths-based, trauma-sensitive perspective using her training in Complex Trauma, Adolescent Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Expressive and Play Therapies (Sandtray, Art Therapy, Storytelling, Non-Directive Play Therapy, Theraplay). Karla believes that with balance and integration of the mind, body, and spirit comes healing and peace. She is honoured to walk alongside people as they navigate their healing journeys.
